Costello College of Technology held a Health and Science Fair for pupils in the North Hampshire area. The Cardiothoracic Investigations Unit sent two members of staff to support the event. Students were given an introduction to how science is applied in the healthcare setting. In particular how medical technology is used to view and test the heart.
Over 260 visitors, aged 11-12 had the opportunity to try out some of the tests performed in a clinical cardiac department and were introduced to careers within cardiac physiology.
This event was supported by the Basingstoke Consortium. Other similar events are also planned for later in the year.
