September 2009 Open Day
Southampton University Hospital Trust held an Open Day and invited the general public to view the services provided by the the Trust. This event coincided with the completion of a new cardiac department. The new non-invasive unit has been designed to provide better facilities to patients and staff. The department has been re-structured to improve the quality of the patients’ experience and the day to day running of the department, in addition to accommodate more staff to deliver more services to the local and regional population.

Cardiac Expansion Project.
Southampton University Hospital Trust is a regional centre for cardiac services. The unit has expanded its existing cardiac services and facilities. The new North Wing is complete and accommodates new theatres, four catheter laboratories, cardiac MRI, cardiac ITU and HDU beds, and a new non-invasive department.

Situated on the top floor of North Wing is the Heartbeat Education Centre. The facility includes teaching and conferencing resources with video links up with cardiac theatres and catheterisation labs.
